The patented friction-optimized planetary gearbox forms the technical foundation of the Rotrex radial compressor, which combines high mechanical and thermodynamic efficiency with compact dimensions, low weight, and low noise levels.

This concept enables performance enhancements in existing
sports engines as well as the development of “downsized” engines with high efficiency, low emissions, favorable specific fuel consumption, and responsive performance.

The basis for its unique compactness, efficiency, durability, and low noise levels is the revolutionary “Traction Drive Technology.” High rotational speeds and low noise levels are just two of the advantages of a Rotrex “TDT” over conventional compressors. The “Traction Drive” transmits power through controlled friction on moving rollers.

The Rotrex-patented system uses a preloaded elliptical ring to generate uniform friction with low forces between the outer rollers, the housing, and the inner torque shaft. The patented “Ramp Effect” increases efficiency and service life through self-regulating torque on the outer ring, depending on the required force.

To ensure long-lasting and flawless operation, Rotrex uses a special drive oil from the latest generation of synthetic hydrocarbon oils. This SX100 oil was developed specifically for Rotrex to fully meet the specific needs of the “Traction Drive” system. The SX100 oil has absolutely consistent viscosity and enables high partial pressures.

The combination of the “TDT” with the radial compressor system enables Rotrex to offer what is currently the most innovative and functional system on the market.
